Ellie Awards win for Tales From Outer Suburbia

Adam Rainford and Jonathan Tappin

Flying Bark Productions is thrilled to share that our new premium animated series, Tales From Outer Suburbia, has taken home an Ellie Award at this year’s Australian Screen Editors (ASE) Awards.

Editors Adam Rainford and Jonathan Tappin were awarded the AWGACS Award for Best Editing in Children’s Entertainment for Episode 3 “Distant Rain” — a standout chapter in the series known for its emotional depth and beautifully observed moments. Their work shaped the episode’s rhythm, tone and quiet intensity, ensuring every beat landed with precision and heart.

The ASE Awards, affectionately known as the Ellies, celebrate the craft of screen editing and recognise the essential contribution editors make to Australia’s film and television landscape. Being acknowledged by peers in this way is a real honour, and we’re incredibly proud of Adam, Jonathan and the whole Tales team.

Distant Rain is just one of the many magical stories awaiting audiences when Tales From Outer Suburbia, produced in partnership with Highly Spirited Productions, premieres in Australia on ABC iview at 6am AEDT on Thursday, 1 January 2026, and in the Unites States at 12am MT on Wednesday, 7 January on the free BYUtv app.

We can’t wait for viewers across the world to discover this special series.
