Flying Bark Productions and Highly Spirited’s premium animated series Tales from Outer Suburbia has been named a finalist in the Animation category at the 24th Annual SPA Awards.

Presented by Screen Producers Australia, the SPA Awards recognise outstanding Australian screen productions across all platforms and genres. Finalists are determined through a confidential vote of SPA members, making the recognition a meaningful acknowledgement from peers across the independent production sector.

Inspired by Shaun Tan’s acclaimed illustrated book, Tales from Outer Suburbia brings imaginative and emotionally rich suburban stories to the screen through a distinctive visual style and carefully crafted storytelling.

The series was produced by Flying Bark Productions and Highly Spirited, with a large team of Australian artists, writers, technicians and performers contributing to its creation. The nomination recognises the extraordinary work of the cast and crew who helped bring the series to life.

Winners will be announced at the SPA Awards ceremony on Thursday, 30 April 2026, the final evening of SCREEN FOREVER 40.
